Cybersecurity experts have been monitoring the activities of Iran-aligned hacking groups, which have been attempting to make a significant impact in the Gulf region through cyberattacks.

Despite their efforts, the results of these attacks have been underwhelming, with minimal disruption caused to critical infrastructure or significant data breaches.

Their tactics, which often involve exploiting known vulnerabilities such as CVE-2017-0144 and CVE-2019-0708, have been well-documented and relatively easy to defend against.

In some cases, the groups have relied on social engineering techniques, including phishing and spear-phishing, to gain access to target systems, but these attempts have largely been thwarted by robust security measures.

While the intentions of these Iran-backed hackers are clear, their lack of sophistication and limited resources have hindered their ability to launch successful, high-impact attacks, such as those seen in the past with vulnerabilities like EternalBlue (CVE-2017-0144) and BlueKeep (CVE-2019-0708).
